If you have a balance in one of the Emory retirement plans through Vanguard, your balances will move to Fidelity on September 1, 2022. Investments in Vanguard mutual funds will not change as a part of this transition. 

A move like this takes time. We’ll do the heavy lifting for you – transferring your account balance, your contribution rate and investment elections, and any loans you may have. However, there will be a short blackout period when you will not be able to make changes to your account while it’s being transferred to Fidelity. Review the dates below and keep an eye on your mailbox for a Transition Brochure that will include detailed information about the blackout period. The Transition Brochure will be mailed to you in late July and posted here for your convenience.


August 19, 2022, 4:00 p.m. ET

If you have Between August 19 and September 1, 2022, you will not be able to change your contribution amount or your investment provider. After September 1, 2022, you can make these types of changes through the Fidelity website, NetBenefits.com/Emory.

August 22, 2022, 4:00 p.m. ET

If you have a brokerage account through Vanguard, this is the last day to trade through your brokerage account. For those who use brokerage trading, you will receive additional information that outlines how your brokerage assets will transfer and what you need to do.

August 26, 2022, 4:00 p.m. ET

This is the last day through Vanguard:

To process a distribution. If you are requesting a distribution by paper forms, all necessary paperwork must be received by Vanguard on this date. If you are requesting a distribution online, this is the last date to request a distribution online through Vanguard’s website.   

Request an exchange (transfer) between investment options.

Change how your future contributions will be invested.

Check your account balance.


August 31, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. ET

Your account balance is valued. All of your holdings will be calculated to assess the number of shares and values they have at the close of business.

September 1, 2022

Your account balance is scheduled to transfer to Fidelity. Your balances will transfer to the same investments you currently hold.


During the Week of September 11, 2022

You will be notified and will have full access to your account at Fidelity.

Once the blackout period has ended, you may manage your account online through Fidelity NetBenefits® at www.netbenefits.com/atwork or by calling Fidelity at 800‑343-0860.




You’ll be receiving helpful materials outlining your plan’s move to Fidelity in late July.
